Shenzhen BGI National Gene Bank Laboratory Cold Storage Construction Project

Project Overview

1. Construction of four laboratory cold storage rooms (with a total volume of 1,491 cubic meters), including:
   • Two refrigerated rooms (4°C) for samples requiring cool storage.
   • Two frozen rooms (-20°C) for long-term preservation of genetic materials.
   • Temperature freely adjustable within the designed range
2. Centralized control management system for all cold rooms.
3. Energy-efficient and cost-effective solution with reliable equipment.
4. Compliance with URS documentation requirements.
5. Fully meet GSP / ISO / EN certification standards.

Cold Storage System Design

1.Refrigeration Units

• Cold Rooms #1 & #2 (4°C): Equipped with two sets of Swedish Beijer medium-temperature integrated refrigeration units (dual backup design).
  • Each includes imported Bitzer piston compressor CST050L6D, solenoid valve, condenser, etc.
• Freezer Rooms #3 & #4 (-20°C): Equipped with two sets of Swedish Beijer low-temperature integrated refrigeration units.
  • Each includes imported Bitzer piston compressor CST280L6D, solenoid valve, condenser, etc.
• All cold rooms adopt a “one in use, one standby” dual-unit configuration to ensure reliability.

2.Air Coolers

• All four cold rooms are fitted with Swedish Beijer BMT122H and BMT091 high-efficiency air coolers, also using a dual backup system.

3.Insulation Panels

• Six-sided structure using 150mm polyurethane double-sided color steel insulation panels.
• Fireproof rating: B1 level.

4.Control & Monitoring

• Automation System: Siemens fully automated temperature control with Schneider industrial components.
