Pharmaceutical Cool Storage Retrofit Project for Herbal Ingredients – CR Sanjiu Chongqing

Project Overview

Client: China Resources Sanjiu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (CR Sanjiu)

Retrofit of an existing warehouse (330 m² / 1,150 m³) into a GMP/GSP-compliant cool storage facility specifically designed for temperature-sensitive botanical materials and pharmaceutical raw materials.

Precise Temperature Range: 10°C to 20°C (Adjustable).

Engineering Solution

1.Refrigeration System

• 1 x Emerson Copeland Scroll™ Medium/High Temperature Condensing Unit: This highly efficient, reliable, and cost-effective unit provides robust cooling capacity. Includes essential components (Solenoid Valves, Pressure Controls).
• 1 x Kaidi DL135 Series High-Efficiency Forced-Air Evaporator: Ensures rapid, uniform cooling throughout the 1,150 m³ space. Features low noise operation, long air throw distance, enhanced defrosting performance, and superior air circulation for consistent temperature (±1°C tolerance achievable).

2.Thermal Envelope:

• 100mm Thick Polyurethane (PUR) Sandwich Panels (Single-Side Color Steel): Provides excellent thermal insulation (low U-value), moisture resistance, and fire safety (B1 Fire Rating – Chinese Standard, equivalent to high fire retardancy). This minimizes heat ingress and significantly reduces long-term operational energy costs.

3.Control & Monitoring System:

• PLC-Based Intelligent Control Cabinet: The heart of the operation.
• Core Components:
  • PLC: Siemens S7-200 PLC (Robust and reliable automation control).
  • HMI: Siemens 7-inch Touch Screen (Intuitive user interface for monitoring and operation).
  • Electrical Components: Schneider Electric (Premium quality for safety and longevity).

The solution delivers precise and adjustable temperature control (10-20°C), high energy efficiency, and robust centralized management, fully meeting CR Sanjiu’s URS requirements and stringent GSP/GMP standards for the secure storage of sensitive pharmaceutical raw materials.
